Unfortunately, Skype has been telling us that they would be launching Skype that is compatible for Blackberry Bold 9700 for over a year. I bought my phone based on that news that even if they don't do it soon, the would do it later. Fact is, there is no Skype voice application, that means you cannot call anyone in a WIFI/3G environment from a blackberry. You have applications that help you do a text chat. Remember Blackberry Bold comes with a v5 OS and there might be Skype for the older version.
According to Skype, they do have a blackberry app but it's only available on Verizon in the US, I'm on T-mobile in the UK. But the fact that an app exists seems to imply the holdup is more political rather than technical. I think its a problem that BlackBerry is posing that Skype does not want to talk about. Setting up an application is not that tough.
If you are thinking of an iPhone 4G, then you must be very rich.. Wait till the prices drop. :)
