So first, the features. The Sony Ericsson has a 1.3 inch OLED display with a 128 x 128 pixel resolution, works over Bluetooth (with an approximate 10m range) and measures in at 3.5 x 3.5 x 1.1 cm. As for the battery life, that is said to be up to 4 days for a "typical consumer." Otherwise, the LiveView ships with a clip, wristband and microUSB cord for charging.
Basically, the LiveView pairs with your smartphone and is said to work with the Xperia X10, X10 mini, X10 mini pro and "most other brands on Android 2.0 and above."
As for what the LiveView will offer, seemingly plenty. Some of the features mentioned include the ability to control your music in terms of play, pause, next, previous and volume controls. Other goodies include the ability to display Facebook and Twitter updates, RSS feeds, calendar alerts, incoming text messages, call details to include incoming calls, missed calls and mute ringer. Plus, the LiveView has the obvious in the ability to display the time.
While I am not sure I would need this considering my phone rarely leaves my hands, I can see some potential. It could serve nicely as a watch if for no other reason than it will also be compatible with certain apps. One example that was given was SportyPal, which is a GPS tracking app for runners. With this you could safely put your phone away in a pocket and control your music and see your workout progress on your wrist.
That said, while interesting, the final appeal may come down to the price, which as of now was not given.
